for the fourth of july i didn't set off any fireworks.
i didn't run around the block with sparklers to see if i could finally accomplish the task.
i didn't go to a parade or even wave a flag.
but i did get to watch fireworks from 5,000 feet in the sky.
as we were flying home we could see fireworks all across the valley.
big ones.
small ones.
bright circles.
and tiny flashes in neighborhoods.
even though it wasn't a very normal celebration i could feel the power of freedom nonetheless.
i love knowing the people celebrate it across the country.
this holiday unites us as a people.
and it's always spectacular.
i think that's why i like it so much.
